Which Season Are You In?

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 states, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing" (ESV)

Seasons is defined as an indefinite or unspecified period of time; a while

A while, that's how long I feel like I've been in some of my seasons. A while, I some how wish that didn't seem as long as it sounds. A while, seems like the end is never going to come. A while, yea, it really is as long as it sounds. However long a while is, guess what it does come to an end. That's the best part, the part that I hold onto.

We have four season: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Every season has different elements that come along with it. Spring time brings a light breeze, rain showers and the blooming of new flowers. Summer is know for the blazing hot temperatures, day light is longer, people flock to the beaches to soak up the sun and there are a lot of vacations taken. The Fall season is my favorite. It brings a change of colors for the leaves, at night the air is nice and crisp, there are a lot of fall festivals and fairs to attend and it brings the cooler temperatures. The Winter season is very cold (depending on where you live), you might get snow, rain, sleet all in one day. One of my favorite holidays, is in the Winter season; Christmas. Another good thing about the Winter season is my birthday!!

In life we are going to face different seasons; a light breeze, hot summers, change of colors, a lot of snow, sleet and even heavy rain. How we handle those elements are what's important. We don't need to have on less clothing when the snow and sleet is coming at us. We need to make sure we have on our rain coats or have an umbrella in our hands when the rain, life's trails, start pouring down on us. Although you may love to be out in the sun, take some some sunblock with you. You don't want to get burned. You want to be able to withstand each season and their elements as they come. Please be prepared physically and spiritually. (Ephesians 6: 10-18)

Some of the seasons that I've been through, I have to admit, I wasn't prepared. It took me "a while" to get out of those seasons and I did not like that at all. I will say that during those seasons, it made me a better person. I was better prepared for the next season. Keep in mind that each season has it's good and bad aspects. Of course I enjoy the good aspects more then the bad but every season can't be all peaches and creme.

I'm stronger and I'm becoming a better person - through each season. Thank God there are only four [natural] seasons, if there were any more, I don't know if I could handle it! *smile*

No matter how long or short your season is just be prepared. It might be over in a blink of an eye or it might take a while! Just remember each season is to make you stronger and it will prepare you for the next season.

Praise Your Own Pond!

Who are you praising? I'm a firm believer that you praise individuals who are deserving and who earn the praises. Praise is defined as the act of expressing approval or admiration. Everyone likes to be praised for the good things they accomplish. Whether it's a child that did good on a report card, a teen passing their driving test, that man proposing to his girlfriend, a marriage, graduation...I can go on an on. All of these things listed are worth praises. Do we praise people for the "good" that they do or do we sit and spew hate or negativity towards them? There's a saying that states, "It's a poor frog who doesn't praise its own pond", I agree. Why wouldn't you praise yourself for your own accomplishments? If you can't praise yourself for the "little" or "big" things that mean a lot to you, that means you can't genuinely praise anyone else for theirs. You have to start with yourself first. Even if it's a ...

Shake it like a Polaroid Picture

Last Christmas I was gifted with a Polaroid Camera that I requested. I use to admire the Polaroid Camera's when I was a kid; I never had one but I always wanted one. To finally have my own personal Polaroid, it was nostalgia. I started making plans for all of the candid pictures I would take with my new camera and since it was Christmas, I was looking forward to all of the instant pictures I would have on that day. I have used my Polaroid a lot since Christmas; I even had to get more film. The best part of having my Polaroid Camera is watching the picture come out and watching it develop right before my eyes. The anticipation of what the picture is going to look like; is it too dark, too light or did it develop just right? Making sure the camera's settings are correct before taking the pictures make a big difference. Sometimes the pictures can develop too dark or too light; both make it hard to see the image. Having messed up a lot of pictures due to the wrong setting can be ...

"Easy[Like Sunday Morning]"

I've been thinking about this song a lot lately and wondering what was Lionel Richie thinking when he penned this tune. Did Lionel Richie attend church on Sunday mornings?! Some of my Sunday morning's aren't easy at all. Lol! They are filled with trying to decide what to wear to church, how I'm going to do my hair, how my hair is going to turn out, if I'm going to like how I'm going to even look for church, do I want to attend the 8am or 11am service, etc.  Although some of my Sunday mornings aren't "easy", I don't allow the uneasiness to hinder me from attending church. The bible says in Hebrews 10:25 for Believers (Christians) to not skip church services and to encourage other Believers to attend church services as well. We are to surround ourselves with one another because we can uplift and empower each other. We get our teachings and motivations from listening to God's Word; listening to and applying His Word not only makes our Sunday...
