Who are you praising? I'm a firm believer that you praise individuals who are deserving and who earn the praises. Praise is defined as the act of expressing approval or admiration. Everyone likes to be praised for the good things they accomplish. Whether it's a child that did good on a report card, a teen passing their driving test, that man proposing to his girlfriend, a marriage, graduation...I can go on an on. All of these things listed are worth praises. Do we praise people for the "good" that they do or do we sit and spew hate or negativity towards them?
There's a saying that states, "It's a poor frog who doesn't praise its own pond", I agree. Why wouldn't you praise yourself for your own accomplishments? If you can't praise yourself for the "little" or "big" things that mean a lot to you, that means you can't genuinely praise anyone else for theirs. You have to start with yourself first. Even if it's a new recipe that I tried and I know that it taste delicious, guess what I'm saying, "You go girl, that was real good"!! Learn to praise yourself for all of your accomplishments, even if you feel that it's not a big deal, it is because you're a big deal.
Once your able to praise yourself, then it'll be so much easier to praise someone else. You'll realize that the praises you offer to others won't take away the praises you give yourself or the praises that someone gives to you. Whatever is meant for me, it's mine and what's meant for you, it's yours as well.
When David defeated Goliath, in the beginning his own family and friends doubted him. His oldest brother, Eliab thought he was just foolish to even think about defeating that giant. After David defeated Goliath with just a stone that he slung from his slingshot, not with a sword that the other soldiers had, he received praises. Praises because he wasn't selfish, he conquered the giant for everyone not just for himself or just for his family members. (I Samuel 17)
When Jesus took the five loaves of bread and two pieces of fish and fed the 5,000 men, women and children, don't you think he received praises for that? He could have let that little boy go about his business and not worry about how all those people were going to eat. In order to receive praises one can't be selfish, believe that! (Matthew 14: 13-21)
Remember, praise yourself for the things that you accomplish. No matter how big or small you deserve your praise. Once your comfortable praising yourself then you can be comfortable praising others for their accomplishments. And the one person that deserves all of our praises more than ourselves or others is Jesus Christ. He does so much for us on a daily basis, why not praise Him? When I wake up in the morning I'm saying, "Thank you Father for letting me see this brand new day". When I just think about the many blessings He bestows upon me daily, I'm giving Him all the praises. No one else is more deserving then Jesus Christ. Learn how to praise Him first and you'll notice how easy it'll be to praise yourself and others.
When praises go up to God...Blessings come down...Showers of Blessings!!
