Last Christmas I was gifted with a Polaroid Camera that I requested. I use to admire the Polaroid Camera's when I was a kid; I never had one but I always wanted one. To finally have my own personal Polaroid, it was nostalgia. I started making plans for all of the candid pictures I would take with my new camera and since it was Christmas, I was looking forward to all of the instant pictures I would have on that day.
I have used my Polaroid a lot since Christmas; I even had to get more film. The best part of having my Polaroid Camera is watching the picture come out and watching it develop right before my eyes. The anticipation of what the picture is going to look like; is it too dark, too light or did it develop just right? Making sure the camera's settings are correct before taking the pictures make a big difference. Sometimes the pictures can develop too dark or too light; both make it hard to see the image.
Having messed up a lot of pictures due to the wrong setting can be frustrating; I don't like wasting my film. Lol!!
Just like the picture of the Polaroid Camera, we too have to be developed. We are tested and tempted on a regular basis. How we develop in those situations say a lot about our character. When we're tempted, do we give in quickly to the temptation? When the test come do we complain, pray, cry or throw in the towel and give up? After the picture is taken with the Polaroid Camera we have to sit and wait for the picture to develop; we're hoping for the best. While we're being tested and/or tempted, we should be thinking about how this is going to develop us. How are these things or situations going to develop our character.
Most of the time, I sit and watch the picture as it is developing from the Polaroid; sometimes I give the picture a little shake to "help it". "Shake it, sh-shake it, shake it, sh-shake it, shake it like a Polaroid picture" - I know y'all was thinking about that part of the song too! Lol! While we're being developed are we being shaken by the things we're going through? Is the shaking necessary; does someone have to come and shake us to get some "act right" about ourselves? How are we handling the development that we are going through? Hopefully while we are going through whatever situations we allow God to develop us into His image for ourselves. What better image to be developed into, right? God created each of us in His image - Genesis 1:27.
I've taken plenty of pictures with my Polaroid Camera and I know now that the best thing to do after I take the picture is to sit it down and let it develop on it's own. The picture will appear at the right time; it doesn't need me to blow on it, shake it or stare at it. The quality of the image will be good and it will be a lasting memory. The Bible mentions that God has made all things beautiful in His time - Ecclesiastes 3:11. Everyday we're developing into someone greater. Just like the Polaroid picture, don't rush your process. Trust God! He's already took the picture; He's developing you and you're going to love the results!!

LOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!! And it's so true, I must wait with anticipation , expectation and faith that it will be good. I see this life of mine developing but sometimes it's hard to remain calm and understanding because i'm not the only one looking. When your picture is developing and on display at the same time, everyone's going to have criticisms... about the process. I'm so grateful God is in control and has already made it good. We are a blessed people.
ReplyDeleteWe are definitely a blessed people. I can also agree that while others are watching us develop it can get hard. But one thing I try to remind myself of, is that God is the developing us and what He says and thinks outweighs what others say or think. I also look at the process as growth. Continue to trust God while in the process.
