Love

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres" (1 Corinthians 13: 4-6 NIV).

Love is when I'm doing my morning walk/run and I see a little toddler walking with his grandmother in the park. The grandmother and I say "hello" and the toddler looks up at me with the brightest eyes and gives me the biggest, loving smile and says, "hello-hello-hello". No matter what else  I was feeling or thinking at that moment all I felt was love. Love from a child that I did not know, never seen in my life but he was willing to show me love. The love he showed me was overwhelming and I wanted it, needed it, appreciated it. I wanted to pick him up and give him the biggest hug and kiss his chubby cheeks, but I figured that would have been too much coming from a complete stranger.

At that moment I understood what God wants us to show daily. He wants us to show love, His love, unconditional love. Love that doesn't come with any attachments at all. The feeling I got from just that little toddler's smile was love, patient love and kind love. The type of love that I want to experience on a daily basis. The type of love that I still feel three days later and it puts a big smile on my face and my heart.

In my opinion, love is an action word. Trust me, I appreciate when someone tells me that they love me but I also want to "see" their love for me. I want to see their love towards me and for me. God is love. If He can love us enough to have His son, Jesus come to earth and live and show love to individuals who hated Him, doubted Him, didn't want to have anything to do with Him, why can't we show love to our brothers, sisters, friends, family members and strangers? Why is it so hard to love? The bible gives us so many scriptures on how to love, why we should love and what love is. If you don't know how to love take the time to research love in the bible. A few of my favorite scriptures on love include: Mark 12:30, 1 Peter 4:8, 1 Corinthians 13:13, John 13:34, 1 John 4:19, 1 John 4:11, John 14:23 and John 3:16.

Who have you shown love to today? Have you told someone you love them today? The same way you want love, remember that someone else needs and wants your love today as well. Love yourself first and watch how easy it is for you to love others.

I love you and there isn't anything you can do about it!!

Praise Your Own Pond!

Who are you praising? I'm a firm believer that you praise individuals who are deserving and who earn the praises. Praise is defined as the act of expressing approval or admiration. Everyone likes to be praised for the good things they accomplish. Whether it's a child that did good on a report card, a teen passing their driving test, that man proposing to his girlfriend, a marriage, graduation...I can go on an on. All of these things listed are worth praises. Do we praise people for the "good" that they do or do we sit and spew hate or negativity towards them? There's a saying that states, "It's a poor frog who doesn't praise its own pond", I agree. Why wouldn't you praise yourself for your own accomplishments? If you can't praise yourself for the "little" or "big" things that mean a lot to you, that means you can't genuinely praise anyone else for theirs. You have to start with yourself first. Even if it's a ...

Shake it like a Polaroid Picture

Last Christmas I was gifted with a Polaroid Camera that I requested. I use to admire the Polaroid Camera's when I was a kid; I never had one but I always wanted one. To finally have my own personal Polaroid, it was nostalgia. I started making plans for all of the candid pictures I would take with my new camera and since it was Christmas, I was looking forward to all of the instant pictures I would have on that day. I have used my Polaroid a lot since Christmas; I even had to get more film. The best part of having my Polaroid Camera is watching the picture come out and watching it develop right before my eyes. The anticipation of what the picture is going to look like; is it too dark, too light or did it develop just right? Making sure the camera's settings are correct before taking the pictures make a big difference. Sometimes the pictures can develop too dark or too light; both make it hard to see the image. Having messed up a lot of pictures due to the wrong setting can be ...

"Easy[Like Sunday Morning]"

I've been thinking about this song a lot lately and wondering what was Lionel Richie thinking when he penned this tune. Did Lionel Richie attend church on Sunday mornings?! Some of my Sunday morning's aren't easy at all. Lol! They are filled with trying to decide what to wear to church, how I'm going to do my hair, how my hair is going to turn out, if I'm going to like how I'm going to even look for church, do I want to attend the 8am or 11am service, etc.  Although some of my Sunday mornings aren't "easy", I don't allow the uneasiness to hinder me from attending church. The bible says in Hebrews 10:25 for Believers (Christians) to not skip church services and to encourage other Believers to attend church services as well. We are to surround ourselves with one another because we can uplift and empower each other. We get our teachings and motivations from listening to God's Word; listening to and applying His Word not only makes our Sunday...
